Dear Choir families,
It’s almost the end of the year! In celebration of the fine arts and academic success, WMS hosts its yearly talent show during the final week of school.
May 20th, at 6:00 PM - WMS Fine Arts Talent Showcase
Choirs, General Music, auditioned performing groups, as well as our art department will feature student work at this year’s talent show. Additionally, our administration does an award ceremony to honor students for the year.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION:
If you are able to volunteer your time to help assist at the talent show please fill out the google form UNDER the VOLUNTEER SECTION on the Choir website. The site will update by 05/08 at the latest with a volunteer link.

The following information will be sent home with your students as a printout. It provides basic instructions for our Fine Arts Talent Showcase.

What: Fine Arts: Talent Showcase
Where: High School Auditorium (Washington Area Performing Arts Center)
When *7/8TH GRADE STUDENTS*: Meet in HS Choir Room at 5:35PM on Tuesday, May 20th
When *6TH GRADE STUDENTS*: Meet in HS Choir Room at 5:45PM on Tuesday, May 20th
When *Talent Show ONLY Performers*: Meet in HS Choir room at 6:00 PM on 05/20/25
When *ATTENDEES*: Combined Choir portion of the show begins at 6:00 PM, Talent Show follows Intermission
What to wear: All Choir Students must wear WMS apparel (or Black & Orange) with DARK pants and shoes.
What to wear: All Talent Show performers are asked to dress up in costume or in a dressed up outfit.
Why: It’s time to showcase to our friends and families the amazing talent we have here in our community!
How Much: Free will donation; no required charge, but donations are greatly appreciated!
Other Reminders about our Choir Guidelines:
Concert/Talent Show attendance is mandatory.
All absences must be cleared by Mr. Gorman at least 24 hours before the concert/show.
Considerations will be made for illness, family emergencies, etc.

CHOIR UPDATE (02/28/25)
1) We have TWO CONCERTS LEFT THIS YEAR! It's been a fantastic year so far so I'm excited for the opportunity to have our entire communiity come together for upcoming concert THURSDAY, MARCH 13th
2) TUESDAY, MAY 20th is our annual talent show for the middle school. This is when we showcase the fine arts across WMS. If your student has a talent they want to showcase they can do that through singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or some other of interpretive performance using music. We will also be showcasing student art work and creations from throughout the year!
3) VOLUNTEERS for the TALENT SHOW. More information will be coming on ways parents can help make the talent show be successful this year!

ALL SCHOOL Choir Concert Reminders
Thursday, March 13th, 2025 at 7:00 PM
What: ALL School Choir Concert
Where: High School Auditorium (Washington Area Performing Arts Center)
When *7/8TH GRADE STUDENTS*: Meet in HS Choir Room at 6:30 PM on Thursday, March 13th
When *6TH GRADE STUDENTS*: Meet in HS Choir Room at 6:45PM on Thursday, March 13th
When *ATTENDEES*: Choir concert begins at 7:00 PM
What to wear: All Choirs are asked to wear their nicest business casual clothing available to them. (collared shirts/khakis or dresses, and dress shoes). DO NOT WEAR CLOTHING WITH GRAPHICS/WORDS
Why: It’s time to show our friends and family what we’ve been learning & doing in choir across the district!
How Much: Free will donation; no required charge, but donations are greatly appreciated!

CHOIR UPDATE (10/14/24)
1) Please check the calendar for updated concert dates. There are two concerts in the 1st semester and another two during 2nd semester.
2) Students were sent home with a concert reminder with information about when they need to be at the event. This was also sent out in an email. Please consider volunteering at the concert AND/OR the IHSMA All-State Auditions 10/26. Visit the VOLUNTEERING page for more information.

What: Middle School Fall Choir Concert
Where: High School Auditorium (Washington Area Performing Arts Center)
When *7/8TH GRADE STUDENTS*: Meet in HS Choir Room at 6:55 PM on Thursday, October 24th
When *6TH GRADE STUDENTS*: Meet in HS Choir Room at 7:10 PM on Thursday, October 24th
When *ATTENDEES*: Choir concert begins at 7:30 PM (immediately after the band concert)
What to wear: Solid-colored dress shirt (BLACK) and DRESSY BLACK pants/skirt/dress/black jeans (NO shorts/short skirts, no bellies showing)
Why: It’s time to show our friends and family what we’ve been learning & doing in choir!
How Much: Free will donation; no required charge, but donations are greatly appreciated!

CHOIR UPDATE (09/13/24)
Lessons begin for 7th/8th grade students on Monday the 16th.
Lessons begin for 6th grade students on Monday the 23rd.
For more information on what students need for lessons please visit the LESSONS page. Lessons are one, 13 minute session, every other week. The purpose is for students to get directed, focused instruction on their instrument (voice) as it changes throughout the year.
Auditions for DeVox, the auditioned extracurricular choir, will commence on the 23rd of September. Information on how students can be prepared can be found on the DEVOX website page. Results will be posted the 26th of September.
UPDATE (08/16/24)
6th Grade Meet and Greet Night - Aug. 21 - 5:00 - 6:00 PM @ WMS
On August 21 from 5:00 - 6:00 PM, new 6th grade students will be able to meet me, Mr. Gorman. It is extremely important that new 6th grade students attend this. PARENTS, This'll be a great way for me to meet YOUR STUDENT before the first day! Additionally, I will be providing a brief presentation on OPUS AUDITIONS - a state honor choir opportunity.
Students will be able to take OPUS music with them that evening.
Please enter through the main doors and follow signs leading to the choir room.
7th/8th Grade Meet and Greet Night - Aug. 21 - 6:00-6:30 PM @ WMS
On August 21 from 6:00-6:30 PM, all interested 7th/8th grade students are encouraged to come meet me, Mr. G. It is extremely important that if you are interested in the OPUS process, that you attend this. During this time, I will go over a large majority of logistics regarding OPUS HONOR CHOIR , DeVox, as well take the opportunity to meet a lot of you!
Students will be able to take OPUS music with them that evening.
