Starting Quarter 2, 2025 - music lessons be graded based on a progression scale of attendance. Each lesson will build upon the skills of the previous lesson demonsrating their growth throughout the quarter.
LESSON GRADES:
The first lesson students will be able to score a max of 1.5
The second lesson students will be able to score a max of 2.0
The third lesson students will be able to score a max of 2.5
The fourth lesson students will be able to score a max of 3-4
*Lesson scores will vary based on the skill level of each individual student and the knowledge they possess*
EMPLOYABILITY GRADES:
Lessons will directly affect employability skills "WORK COMPLETION" throughout the quarter and for their FINAL quarter grade.
Final Term employability skills will take into account all of your student's lesson attendance that quarter.
LESSONS WILL BE MADE-UP IF THEIR IS A CONFLICT, UNLESS EXCUSED BY THE MUSIC TEACHER. Students should email Mr. Gorman or Gardner there is a conflict and reschedule. Students are expected to communicate when their is a conflict with their lesson due to the following:

Orange vs Black Week
Lessons will be on an every other week basis. 7th and 8th grade band students are on orange weeks and 6th grade students are on black weeks. Lessons start September 2nd - ORANGE WEEK. Lessons for 6th Grade start the following week, BLACK WEEK, and will continue rotating until the end of the quarter.
Attendance
Attendance at a lesson is mandatory. The ability to show up on time and remember your lesson will be reflected on students' employability skills for that week. Students will need to remember when their lesson is as I will not be calling classroom teachers when a student does not arrive. Please see the handbook for further information on how lessons will be graded
Reminder
A sign showing what week it is (Orange or Black) will be posted outside the auditorium and choir room doors. Students have also received a physical schedule. Please review with them when their lesson is.
